FAQs

Times and Locations

What are your hours of operation?
I work standard office hours, Monday to Friday. Please get in touch to check my current availability. Sessions are offered on a weekly basis, as I’ve found this is the most effective rhythm for progress.

Where is Jessica Bowie Therapy located?
I work exclusively online. Sessions take place via Zoom from my private, sound insulated office, ensuring privacy and focus.

Why can I not access your services outside the UK and Ireland?
My professional body (BACP) and insurer only permit me to work with clients in the UK and Ireland. This is to ensure your safety, for example, in an emergency I need to be able to contact local services if necessary.

Confidentiality and Privacy

How do you ensure confidentiality and privacy?
All sessions are confidential. Your personal information is protected in line with professional ethical standards and legal requirements.

Is online therapy secure and private?
Yes. I use Zoom, which is encrypted and secure for online therapy sessions. I work from a private, sound insulated room so our conversations cannot be overheard or interrupted. You’ll just need a private space on your end too,  somewhere you feel comfortable talking openly. Together, we’ll make sure your sessions are as safe and confidential as possible.

Booking and Payment

How can I book a therapy session?
You can get in touch by text or email. I offer a free 20 minute consultation (via Zoom) so we can discuss what you’re looking for and see if we’re a good fit.

  1. What are your fees for therapy sessions?
Sessions are £70 each. A block booking of eight sessions is available for £500 (a saving of £60 per block).

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Life happens, if you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged in full.

Do you accept insurance?
I don’t currently accept insurance directly. However, I can provide receipts for sessions that you may be able to submit to your insurance provider, depending on your coverage.

Getting Started

What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s completely okay. Many people feel unsure at first. You don’t need to have the “right” words, starting the conversation is enough, and together we’ll explore what feels important to you.

How long will therapy take?
It really depends on you and what you want to work on. Some people find six sessions give them the support they need, while others prefer longer-term therapy. We’ll review progress together and decide what feels right for you.

What happens in the first session?
The first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’d like to change, and how I can best support you.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
That’s very normal, and something we can talk about together. Therapy is a space to go at your own pace. You won’t be pressured to share anything before you’re ready.

Do I need any special equipment for online sessions?
Just a device with Zoom installed, a stable internet connection, and a private space where you feel comfortable talking. Headphones can also help with privacy.

Can I switch to in-person sessions later?
I currently work exclusively online, so all sessions are via Zoom. Many clients find online therapy just as effective as in-person, and often more convenient.
