My Approach

My Approach

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to wonder what it will be like. My role is to offer you a safe, supportive space where you can begin to make changes that feel meaningful and lasting.

I work exclusively online, offering weekly sessions. From experience, I’ve found this rhythm and time-frame creates the best conditions for progress.

My starting point is person centred therapy, which means creating a supportive relationship where you feel heard, understood, and accepted. I know from experience that person centred therapy on its own isn’t always enough. That’s why I draw on other approaches when they can be helpful,  such as Transactional Analysis, Gestalt therapy, CBT, expressive arts, or psychoeducation. By integrating different methods, I can adapt our work to fit you, rather than expecting you to fit a single model.

What to Expect in Our Work Together

In our sessions, we’ll work together to:

  1. Make sense of what feels difficult right now. We’ll define your problems in a way that feels meaningful and clear to you.
  2. Set goals that matter to you. We’ll decide what you’d like to change and create a plan to help you get there.
  3. Learn practical tools and strategies. I’ll share simple techniques you can use to manage strong emotions in the moment — no jargon, just straightforward support.
  4. Explore the deeper layers. Together, we can look at your life experiences, process past difficulties or trauma safely, and make sense of how these may still affect you today.

How Therapy Can Support You

Working together can offer you:

  • A confidential space where you can be completely yourself, without judgment.
  • Time to explore feelings that feel overwhelming, confusing, or hard to put into words.
  • Practical tools for managing stress and anxiety in daily life.
  • Space to make sense of past experiences and move toward healing.
  • Support in understanding your relationships, patterns, and beliefs — and how they may be shaping your life now.
  • A chance to reconnect with your own capacity for growth and change.

Who I Work With

I’ve supported people through many challenges, including anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, loneliness, grief (including baby loss), and relationship difficulties. I also work alongside people living with mental health diagnoses and neurological conditions.

Many of my clients identify as neurodivergent (for example, ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia). I work in a neuroaffirmative way, which means I don’t see neurodivergence as something to “treat.” Instead, I recognise the challenges of navigating a world built for neurotypical people and offer support that respects and values your unique way of being. As someone with dyscalculia myself, I understand first-hand how everyday life can feel when your brain works differently.

My Beliefs

I believe our experiences shape us, but that change is always possible with the right support.

My practice is also anti-oppressive. As a white, middle-class, heterosexual woman, I recognise my privilege and aim to work as an ally to people from minority groups.

How We’ll Work Together

I usually suggest starting with six sessions. In the fifth session, we’ll pause to reflect on how things are going, review your goals, and decide together whether to continue, adapt, or conclude. Some people find short-term work (six weeks) enough, while others benefit from longer-term support. Either way, we’ll move forward in a way that feels right for you.

Next Steps

If you’re wondering whether therapy with me might help, I offer a free 20 minute online introductory session. It’s a chance to meet, ask questions, and get a feel for how we might work together.

Taking that first step can feel daunting, but it can also be the start of real change.
